#19: Patrick Crawford (NITE) listens to JON OLIVA'S PAIN - "Maniacal Renderings"
Patrick Crawford, drummer for San Francisco blackened heavy metal band Nite, brings on a mostly-forgotten record from Savatage co-founder and Trans-Siberian Orchestra songwrtier Jon Oliva.
Patrick calls “Maniacal Renderings” by Jon Oliva’s Pain the Savatage album that never was and considers it to be just as important in their discography as any of their albums. He dives into the context behind it, the enigma that is Jon Oliva, and why there’s so many layers to peel away if you can get past the awful band name.
Spinning the Wax is a heavy music interview series where guests spin a record of their choice and have a candid discussion while listening.
